My contributions to this project: code
Contagious Joy
Karen came to me wanting to have a design she made converted to a WordPress theme. The site was a “pet project” of hers, and the old site was in dire need of an overhaul. it had previously been created using a forum with now-outdated software, and was being overrun by spam. It was no longer a welcoming place for visitors – which is really what it needed to be.
With Karen’s guidance on what they were looking to have done functionality-wise, I set them up with a forum (using bbPress) with internal messaging and private access. I customized the logins so that new members required approval before gaining entrance, and you were required to be logged in to view the forums. Events manager was used to allow people to RSVP for upcoming events for the group.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Karen, and she allowed me to stretch my wings on this – which I love doing when clients give me a chance. Because of this project, I was able to take on more complex projects that were similar in nature, and allowed me to increase my skillset by quite a bit – something I can pass on to your next project!
